We undertook a full refurbishment of Genting’s Glasgow Sauchiehall Street casino. As part of the refurbishment we added a smaller gaming room, where we installed 20 top of the range slot machines and ten electronic gaming terminals. In addition the existing larger gaming area and the Mahjong room were give an extensive makeover, to create a more welcoming environment for guests.
As part of the refurbishment, a Chinese theme was incorporated throughout, including the food and bar areas and the three karaoke rooms. This included traditional oriental décor with the use of paintings, graphic wallpapers which were manufactured bespoke for the client, and lighting fixtures.
The casino remained fully operational throughout the 13 weeks’ programme, which took place over a number of phases. The larger gaming area involved the removal of an old sprung nightclub dance floor, which had been overlaid with oak floorboards three times over the years. Due to the age of the building, we discovered damp in the Mahjong, gaming machine area and front of house meeting rooms. This created a challenge to the programme as we needed to make these areas safe before we could continue with the fit-out. We installed new windows, which were manufactured precisely to match the existing ones, due to the heritage status of the building. We also installed fire doors and automated car park entrance doors.
