We created the new Marina Bar and Stage at Greenacres Holiday Park, which is a flexible and innovative space allowing cosy, intimate events as well as large gala events.
We stripped out and part-demolished the previous show-bar. We built a new steel frame extension to form the Marina Bar, including groundworks, drainage, services, skylights and cladding. In both the new and original structures, we fitted new windows with integrated, automatic black-out blinds.
We fitted-out the extension and refurbished the remaining original show-bar, including the lounges, bar areas, stage areas, kitchen areas and toilets with a disabled changing area. We installed a 70-screen backdrop to the stage, which can be moved; and two DJ boxes, one on each side of the space. To provide the innovative space, we installed an acoustic division between the extension and the remaining original show-bar. The acoustic division includes two complex acoustic roller shutters, a glazed wall and sliding walls. This allows different events to be held in the two parts of the bar lounge at the same time.
A key challenge was working within a live environment with guests. We worked closely with the operational team to minimise disruption and noise for the guests and staff.
The inclement weather slowed down the external works. In addition the 20 week programme was interrupted at week 16 because of the first COVID-19 lockdown. When we returned to site, we closely managed our site operatives and our supply chain to ensure a COVID-secure environment.
Despite the challenges, we delivered a high quality finish, exceeding the client’s expectations.
