Cove Communities purchased the holiday park in the summer 2022 and were keen to invest in the development of the site to provide luxury living for the holiday home owners and guests. We delivered the transformation of the community spaces, including the new Roxburgh Café Bar, a tiered garden with impressive features such as a rustic fire pit surrounded by a stone curved seating area and a new walkway covered by a glazed, timber pergola with new bifold doors to enter the café bar. We also refurbished the reception area and offices. In addition we built a folly at the entrance of the park, installed a spiral staircase to a viewing platform.
A key challenge was the 11 week programme for the works. The building was originally a stable block and more recently a function room. When we excavated for the pergola foundations we discovered a natural spring running straight through where we were building. As a result the design of the site was evolving whilst we were on site. In addition because the location is fairly remote, site materials and plant was not readily available. All of these issues placed further pressure on the already challenging 11 week programme. However, through collaborating closely with all involved and focusing clearly we met the client’s objectives.
