National Apprenticeship Week, which this year takes place 5th – 11th February, celebrates the value, benefit and opportunity that apprenticeships bring.
Formed over 115 years ago, G F Holding has a long history of apprenticeships. One of our current apprenticeships is Adam Poole, who is undertaking a degree apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying at the University of Salford.
Adam commented: “Having achieved a BTEC Level 3 in Construction in the Built Environment, I had started a full-time quantity surveying degree course at Liverpool John Moores University, but the course just wasn’t for me and so I looked into apprenticeships. The opportunity opened up at G F Holding and I decided to apply.
“I am learning so much through the apprenticeship route, by being able to apply in real-life work scenarios what I am studying in the classroom. It is a much more enjoyable way of learning and I am being paid!”
Martin Leyden, Commercial Director commented: “As a business we have supported a great number of apprenticeships. It is really rewarding for us to see the apprentice grow and develop through applying their knowledge on-the-job. It also supports our approach of growing our own talent.”
