G F Holding has re-opened the site at Ambassadors Cinema, Woking. Our team started work at the Cinema in January, but closed the site at the end of March due to COVID-19.
We have reopened the site after undertaking a systematic risk assessment in line with the Government’s and HSE’s advice, and developing revised policies and procedures to protect our team members, supply chain, client, and others.
We are refurbishing this Cinema, which has not been upgraded since it opened 25 years ago. This project is a significant collaboration between the Ambassadors Theatre Group and Woking Borough Council, as part of a town-wide regeneration. The site forms part of a major shopping centre development in The Peacock, and houses a cinema and live theatre.
The refurbishment will see the cinema stripped out, and converted to a new seven screen cinema, all of which will be of a high quality. It will also see the introduction of a “Media and Learning Space”.
Once completed the new cinema will have a capacity of 950 seats across the seven screens including one luxury screen. We will install full stadium seating, new lobbies, bars and café style concessions, as well as new toilet facilities and back of house facilities. The foyer will incorporate red velvet whilst the bar will include zinc, glass and tiles. The void to the luxury screens upstairs will include a chandelier of film stage lighting.
Thank you to Wren Architecture & Design for the CGI.
